Along with sons Peter and Terry, he bougbt Marigold Lincoln Mer- cury in Wbitby in June of 1983. The 4+alership had been a losing proposition but Souch management and wbat he describes as good Ford produets turned it into a winner. Mr. Soucb expects to seil about 750 cars this year, considerably more than the 130 sold the year before be took over. 1He credits the "personal toucb >witb customers" and the presen- tation of a friendly atmosphere as important ingredients toward that success. He expeets to furtber im- poe that atmosphere when the >rvice area undergoes expansion and modernization this summer. Part of the expansion wil also in- clude an auto parts store. Customers will. be able to choose tbe parts laid out in a display area . Igr. Souch began in the business i 1949 as part-owner of Ontario Motor Sales. He was tbere 32 years, and bis community involvenient in- cluded. membership in tbe Oshawa Kiwanis Club. He retired in 1982 from Ontario but came back a year later witb bis two sons to purebase Marigold. A thiùrd. son, David, later jomned Marigold as sales manager. Tbere are now 33 employees. Marigold supports two hockey and two basebail teams, and bas raised money for Toronto's Sick Children's Hospital . The business belongs to the Whitby Chamber of Commerce for whicb Mr. Soucb is nov.'president.
