A couple of months ago, two of our students participated - in the Canada Gaines. Andrew Motomura won in his Judo division and came back with gold. Paul Peschisolido has'been chosen to play for the Canadian Soccer team and will be leaving for Scotland to play other countries. Leslie Gazarek is one of the top skiers in Ontario in her age group, while three girls from DO'C - Margot Jelliman, Margot Jacobs and Michelle Kleiss - are members of the Ontario field hockey team. There's more. Three of our girls - Cathy Doherty, Angela Hickling and Kim Lefebvre - are members of the Whitby Figure Skating Club. Last week, the girls, along with the rest of their precision team, won the Canadian championships. I know the three girls are. very excited and happy, and we share their joy with them. Pat Kirby recently placed second in the LOSSA west badminton tournament. He and the reat of the single players from DO'C played extremely well for their first tournament. We wish Pat luck in his next LOSSA tournament DO'C was well represented in the Ontario high school indoor track and field meet on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28. Mario Skara placed fifth in 50-metre hurdies and third in long jump. Jason Brown finished first in his heat of the 400-metre run and l9th out of the 50 competitors there. DO'C's two female entran- ts, Patti Arnold and Bernadine Heard, were up against strong coin- petition, but ran strong races in the 1500-metres. The track coaches are hoping for a better turn-out next year, leading to better resuits.
