West Lynde Public School junior choir, under director Janice Chaabane, had a first, second and fourth. The school's intermediate triple trio placed second while the primary choir Placed second, behind Dr. Robert Thornton, in a choral class. About .300 students from West Lynde have participated in the festival. Students from Whitby Senior Public School had several first- place finishes. Jennifer Brant was first in senior elementary flute solo. She teamed with Jennifer Newell and Michelle Moxley to win the woodwind trio class. With Stacey Kemp, the three girls also had a first in the woodwin quartet class. Geoff Houghton and Chris Moxley won the beginner brass duet. The two joined with Mike Elmhurst and Blair Devine for a second in the brass quartet class. Houghton was second in beginner trumpet solo. Jamie Bramma was first in senior elementary trumpet solo. Bramma, Lâura Riggs and Steven Hewis were first in brass trio. Shayn Ballagh, Claire MadilI, Brian Bond and Neil Stratton were first in beginner brass quartet. Amber Woodman, Jocelyn Wood, Cindy McAlpîne and Julie Gay were first in senior elementary brass quartet. Jackie Allen, Michelle Souter and Saley Peel were first in beginner woodwind trio. Jamie Allison, Chad Simpson, Chris Card-Cook were second in beginner woodwind trio. Allen Compton, Allen Woodhouse and Sarah Thomspon were third in beginner woodwind trio. senior school took part in the in- strumental classes at the festival. Whitby pianists Heather Houghton, Adrienne Baker, Shan- non McNamee, Albert Hung, Michael Pelissier and Doug Fenton ail placed first in- their classes. Heatiier Houghton also had a second as did Daniel Evans, Richard Gordon, Michelle Moxley and Laura McGinty. Marybeth Reilly, Joelle Curtis and Christopher Moxley had thirds. Carolyn Young and Elizabeth Couture of Whitby placed first in a vocal class.
