"Simcoe Engineering Group carried out the flooding relief study for the Region and is very familiar with the proposed remedial works..." states a report from the Region's works staff which has proposed the hiring of the firm. Regional council was to decide Wednesday on the hirings. The firm would prepare drawings and specifications for the relief sewer on the overflow sewer on Dundas St. at Raglan St.; pumping station at Burns St./Annes St. with portable standby power; overflow sewer at Chestnut St./Ash St.; automatie flow control at diversion sewer on Coiborne St.; and replacement of Ash Creek trunk sewÎer from Ontario St. to Highway 401. The firîn will also make drawings for areas in Pickering and Oshawa where flooding occurred. The estimated cost of the total 10 projeets is $1.4 million. The Singers will hold their 20th anniversary concerts on May 22 and 23 at the curling club. The club donated the facility to the singers who will donate money from the concerts to the Whitby General Hospital Auxiliary. The auxiliary is raising funds to refurbish the physiotherapy department at the hospital. Whitby curlers had planned to use the club last Thursday, April 16, to complete the curling season. But a breakdown in the ice-making equipment began an early thaw and curlers went to Toronto to finish their season. The ice should be completely gone by thie week when the singers will begin rehearsals for their con- certs, a musical reunion to be called "Back to the Future." Computer Fair May The fourth annual Computer Fair for Durhamu Region will be held at Uxbridge Secondary School Thur- sday May 7 and Friday May 8. Public viewing of displays by high school students will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday and ahl day Friday. Judging takes place Friday. Interested groups should apply now as the May lSth deadline for preliminary applications is fast approaching. The Government of Canada through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the Province of Ontario through the Ministry of Housing, will be cost- sharing assistance directed to needy households. Market units will be fully funded by the Prov- ince of Ontario. The program is open to ahl municipal non-profit, private non- profit and non-profit co-operative organizations.
