The Grade 10 students expected to have fun aid see some sights. They did both and then some. They also made friends and many memories. What1s more, if the marriage doesn't work out, he will be required in most cases, to continue to support us and the children - and if he doesn't, he will go to jail. It's ndt spelled out that way on the marriage license, but you know it, and he knows it. Is that equality? Back in the Stone Age when some lonely cave man found himself a suitable mate, he didn't ask' her. He just pulled her home by her long tresses, caveman fashion. And I'll bet that the poor helpless sex object was actually enjoying what was in store for her. Not just the sex part, but the knowledge that this big brute of a man would be looking after her for the rest of her life. She knew she'd have to do some cooking and keep the cave reasonably clean, but her days would be her own, and she'd never have to go out to hunt for her own food again. Today, I can work full-time, part-time, or not at all. I can get civic minded work on the problems of air pollution, help the Red Cross, or just play bridge if I am so inclined. I can go into politics or write magazine articles. Men don't have all those lovely options. And you know what worries me? Unless we stop making equality noises, men might wake up and realize what they have been missing. God help us then! At least that's the way it looks to me.
