Hanwell con- tracting is owned by Mr. Danny Pettit, who began his business career in 1970 as a contractor of aluminum siding and home improvements. A business which he suc- cessfully developed into one of the leading aluminum siding con- tracting firms in the Golden Horseshoe - area concentrating on the Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa and Bowmanville markets. After 10 very successful years Mr. Pettit sold his interests in the company and enjoyed a period of rest relaxation. "in October of Billy and I discussing many after an old t hockey game brief and 1985, were topics imer's in Pickering, when he asked if i would be in- terested in installing a patio door at his residence in Raglan. That was the birth of Hanweil Contracting & Building Products and the beginning of a strong friendship between Billy and myself." My desire was always to have an office in the Durham Region as this is where I was raised and I always felt that there was great growth possibilities here for the building industry. From a patio door in- stallation in October of 1985, business grew rapidly through 1986 and for the first six months of 1987, contract sales are in excess of $4 million. I am proud and very satisfied to be a member of the Oshawa Durham Home Builders Association and to be associated with and work for some of the Regions top home builders. My association with Bill and Carol while building Pearson Lanes again exemplifies the warmth and kinsman- ship within our building community. When Billy asked if I would be in- terested in building Pearson lanes it only took two minutes to reply. Over the course of the project there have been a number of exciting moments, watching the two houses, approx. eighty tons, being moved inch by inch across Mary Street to their final resting spots onto their new foun- dations was like giving them "new lives." The extensive renovating of each home, the connec- ting of the two existing homes and the two relocated homes by a wooden waikway, building of the new por- ches and bay windows were then all brought to life' by a last coat of white paint to make a very pleasing and delightful reflection of delightf ul reflection of our past and compliment Bill and Carol's historical awareness. Other exciting moments take place as each merchant takes oc- cupancy and opens his or her boutique to the public for the first time. I would like to wish each of you continued suc- cess and thank you for your patience and un- derstanding through the course of construction. A great deal of credit must also go to a group of men from new Brun- swick for their knowledge of renovation, sense of humour and devotion to meet tight schedules, ail of which were major fac- tors in the building of Pearson Lanes. 'Merci beaucoup, mes amis.' N Regards must go to Regards must go to the architect, the Town of Whitby, contractors and trades people who were dedicated and dependable all the way through the project. For the past nine mon- ths I have got to know Bill and Carol, their children and ail the great people at Marketing and Motivation and the mer- chants of Pearson Lanes, makinlg it a family atmosphere and again showing the potential of our region. Continued success to Billy and Carol for the future and thanks for allowing Hanwell Con- tracting and Building Products the honour and privilege to build Pear- son Lanes -the tren- dsetter for the growing town of Whitby.
