"We got off to à bad start in both games," said pitcher-manager Howie Moore of Whitby. Whitby gave up eight runs in the second in- ning of the first game before fallinig 9-1 and then gave up six runs to start the second game. Whitby came back strongly in that second game but feil short 6-5. The team stroked six hits in the second game after managing only one in the first. That brought an end to a hot hit- ting streak that ended with a 17-6 romp over Little Britain last Tuesday, July 21. Oshawa has locked up first place in the Gilmer division but second place could be decided when Whit- by ends the regular schedule again- st Port Hope. Peterborough is also in the hunt for second in the tough, strong Gilmer. "lEvery team there can beat each other at any time," said Moore ôf the similar talent level of the four teaMs. "It's the closest it's been in 10 years." The teams meet in Peterborough this weekend to decide the league championship and then the Ontario Basebail Association playoffs begin next week. Whitby will play in the B division.'
