For the second year in a row, Kevin Dillon of Oshawa. was the fastest in the event, this year establishing a new course record as he sped to a time of 15 minutes, 18 seconds for the five-km. distance. Meanwhile Anne Emmett of Whitby won the women's title with a record time of 18 minutes, 35 seconds. Gilles. Gautreau was second in the men's run, finishing in 15 ,minutes, 30 seconds. Five seconds behind was'Timn Murphy for third. Fourth was Lawrence Warner and fifth, Dave Corlett. Marianne Herdy was second for the women, 47 seconds behind Emmett. Brenda Thompson was third in 19:48, Falecia Meidema fourth and Barb Marsh fifth. Ian Barron of the host Tigers running club said the run was one of the best ever but said more prize money will make next year's even better. Petro Canada was the major sponsor of the mun. Ail runners received a finishing medal, refreshments and a free massage from members of a therapy centre in Sutton. Durham Regional Police managed traffic along the circuit which wound from Iroquois Park to Heydenshore and back. St. John Ambulance was on hand but there were no serious problems despite the sweltering heat. The Tigers will hold their next run in November, a 10-km. event.
