At last' reeording, they were well over il. feet and stili growing. Free Press photo At 1llfeet and stili growingf Jack and the Beanstalk has nothing on Doug and Marlene Bon- netta of Brooklin. The sunflowers in front of the Bonnetta home at 36 Montgomery Ave, have literally gone bersek, and have refused to stop growing. At last measure, the mighty plants stood. over il feet high and had buds at least seven inches in diameter. When in full bloomn, the flowers will prbably overshadow a large dinner plate. Doug, who is an avid gardener, has planted sunflowers on his property in past years but says the highest grew to a mere eight feet. Large enough, but nothing compared to this year's crop. He is mystified as to why the plants have stretch to such heights this year, but isn't complaining about the crowning glory of his garden.
