The building in the foreground is the Ontario Hotel which still stands (though greatly altered) as Sungarden Fruit Market. The N/W corner of Brock and Dundas had recently been destroyed by fire. The Bigelow building on Dundas (still standing) was of brick construction and stopped the fire from spreading along Dundas.
