Obituaries EMMA BOETTCHER Emma Boettcher, formerly of Whitby, died at Uxbridge Cottage Hospi tal on Monday, September 14, 1987. She was 102. She was born in Klenowe, Ger- many, on Feb. 25, 1885, daughter of Frederick and Johanna (Hoja) Mosch.* She married Frederick Boettcher on Sept. 26, 1926. As a Whitby resident, she was a member of St. Mark's United Church. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Herb and Anne Boettcher of Port Perry and gran- ddaughters Dagmar of Toronto, Dorothy Nelson of Ajax and Angela of Richmond Hill. She was predeceased by her husband in 1980. The funeral was held Sept. 17, at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel in Whitby, Rev. Brian Gee of St. Mark's conducting. Interment at Mount Lawn Cemetery. NORMA E. IRELAND Norma E. Ireland died at Oshawa General Hospital on September il, 1987. She was 53. She was born on January 5, 1934 in Whitby, daughter of Allan Myrtle (Stokes) McLeod. She married John Ireland on June 17, 1950. She lived in Whitby for 41 years and in Oshawa for 12 years. She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Whitby. She is survived by daughter Susan (Mrs. Joe Andres) of Oshawa, son Allan Ieland and daughter-in-law Darlene of Whitby, mother Myrtle of Fairview Lodge and sister Marion of Toronto, and grandchildren Alison, Jennifer, Jessica, Sarah and John. Predeceased by father Allan McLeod and sister Fay Hogarth. The funeral was held Sept. 14, 1987, from the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel in Whitby, with Rev. Mc- Clure. Interment at Mount Lawn. Cemetery. JOHN JAMES BLACKWELL John James Blackwell died on September 9, 1987 in Oshawa, in his 5lst year. He was born in Prescott, Ont. on January 18, 1937, son of Cecil and Louise (Vickery) Blackwell. He married Diana Thorne on Feb. 12, 1968. A laborer and foreman, he lived in Whitby for five years and in Oshawa for 14 years. He was a member of the Laborers' Union Local 597. He is survived by his wife Diana, sons Wayne, John, Tim, Jim, Darrell, daughters Carroll and Lorrie, brothers Reg, Bill, Stanley and Tom and sister Cecilia. The funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 12, 1987 at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Gordon McKinnon. Interment at Groveside Cemetery. The library has a complete set of film of all issues of The Free Press from its founding in June, 1971, to the end of last year. Also complete is the Brooklin Profile which started on Oct. 26, 1983 and continued as a separate newspaper until July 9, 1988. From July 15, 1986 to Mar. 24, 1987, The Profile consisted of pages published in the Port Perry Star. These pages related to Brooklin are included in the microfilm. On April 1, 1987, the Brooklin Profile joined the Whitby Free Press and will be included in future microfilming of The Free Press. Until this week, the microfilm at the library for both papers had been complete only to the end of 1984. Microfilm of The Free Press for 1987 will be available early in 1988. Microfilming of all Whitby newspapers published since 1970 bas been arranged for the library by Brian Winter, archivist of the Whitby Historical Society.
