Among donations reported last week was $27.400 from Lasco Steel of Whitby. almost double Lasco's $14.000 donation last year. As the campaign winds down. several canvassing efforts will be reported this week and next. Final figures on the 1987 campaign should be made available by mid- November. Kid's play program is offered With the demise of a children's play program through Durham Family "Y", it looked for a while as though there would be no activities. ifor'the younge r set in the Brooklin area this winter. But the Oshawa YWCA has come to thle rescue. They are offering a children's play program each Tuesday and Thursday at Brooklin United Church. from 9:15 to 1: 15 a. m. The arrangement is part of the Outreach Program and offers in- teraction and confidence building for three to five-year-old children. many who may not have previously experienced group activities and ,will focus on play. crafts, songs and other activities. It wîll be a learnng process through fun according to- the program's organizers. The instructor for the program will be Nancy Innes. a Brooklin resident for more than 12 years. who serves as a supply teacher to Meadowcrest Public Sehool. The mother of three has also taught Sunday school at Brooklin United for several years and is welI versed with the younger child. The program will start on Tuesday. Nov. 3.
