Estatesubdivision gets 0MB appiroval >A nine-lot estate subdivision in a wooded area in north Whitby'has been approved by the Ontario Municipal Board. Just south of the Whitby-Scugog townline and between Ashburn Rd. and Regional Rd. 23, the subdivision proposed by Willami and Margaret Frankovich was opposed by somne neighboring property owners. Town taxes FROM PAGE 1 The $40,000 was cut- from the Town's current budget, which for 1988 is set at $16,946,433. The public works department budget for 1988 will be $6,715,595 while the recreation departments budget will be $,122,950. The budget for protection to persons and Property which includes the Whitby fire department, bylaw enforcement and ' protective inspections is $3,811,445 for 1988. The fire departmnent budget alone is $2e881,240 with salaries accounting for $2,507,145, of that amount. During budget discussions council also fixed the capital budget for 1988 at $9,994,600. The ýcapital budget bas no effect on the tax increase, with the bulk of the funding coming from municipal, development and equipment reserve funds. One of the items conitained in the capital budget is $300,000 for expansion to the fire station on rThickson Rd. N. Witby fire- chief Ed Crouch told councillors the hall was built in 1965 and was intended for use as a volunteer station. "What we are doing is turning it into a fulI-tinie station," said 4.Couch. Alteration s will include the addition of a dormitory, kitchens, captain offices, showers and lockers. A total of $353,000 was also allocated for sidewalk construction' and replacement during 1988. Included is a sidewalk on the north and south s s*de of Rossland Rd. E. from Garden St. to Thickson Rd. N. at. a cosît of $165,000..
