Home wanted for head njury vicetims The Head Injury Association of Durham Region is looking for a community re-entry/hallway bouse for victims of head injuries. "People who survive head in- juries need a halfway house for short or longterm care, " states Roy Walker Smith of Port Perry, an association member. "Most do not get a chance. Many end up in a mental hospital. Obviously, this is not where they belong, but should be sornewhere else. " He says a community re- entry/halfway bouse offers the benefits of friendship, information and services with other survivors and famnily. Head injury victims receive ex- cellent care in hospital trauma units, he says, but some need sup- port after-hospitalization. A halfway house coul d provide both short or longterm care, says Walker Smith. He points out that tbousands of people suffer from he id injuries each year in Ontario, with about 2,000 annually left with intellectual and behavioral çeficits that "4preclude their roturn to normal 'MIL ERIK VAN WOUW shows his ""Ice has Heat" science project, overali Gr.,8 wmnner ini the science fair at lm- manuel Christian Sehool, to science teacher Dennis Jurjens. Correction An article in last week's edition should have stated that the new Oshawa location of Office Equipment Company of Canada Inc. includes Canon equipment. It was incorrectly stated that Office Equipment is a Cannon product centre. The article should have also mentioned that the head office is in Montreal whilé an office, as well as a warehouse, is located in Markham. The Oshawa location was also established because of growth in this area. The Free Press regrets the errors and omissions.
