Many major electronie systems now in cars are capable of diagnosing them- selves, memorizing their own mfalfunc- tions and communicating bothto the driver and the service technician. They often wamn the driver before it reaches danger levels in the car's operation. The GCC (Graphic Control Centre) operated fim a finger touch-sensitive cathode ray tube, is one of the most advanced systems in use in some 1988 GM models. It replaces 91 controls required to accomplish the saine pur- poses with conventional systems in six basic areas: climate control, sumfmary, radio, trip monitor, gauges, and diag- nostic information.
