The photographs represent Goldchain's personal perception of Latin An-erica as a native. He was born in Santiago, Chile in 1953. His photography explores parts of Latin America, places, events and people which triggered in him a process of recognition, empathy and an aesthetic sensibility as well as a srt of cultural, economic and political circumstances quite unique and different from those of North America. , Above ail, these are discreet personal observations. Goldchain's highly satirical and tongue-in-cheek approach is deliberately provocative. in bis own way, he is a critic and, On Wednesday April 20, at 8 p.m., in co-operation with the Oshawa Lit- tle Theatre (Russett Ave.), the Lung Association for Durham Region will host a gala preview of 'Anne of Green Gables.' Goldchain will give a workshop with the exhibition in which he will discuss the original context of bis'photographs and their relationship to the country of bis birth, Chule. ý On Sunday April 17, 8 p.m., the Oshawa Symphony Association will present the final concert of the season at St. George's Anglican Church, 51 Centre St. S. in Oshawa. Sponsored by General motors of Canada Limited, the concert will in- clude on the program Pastorale, Capriccio by Scarlatti- Shostakovich, Schuhert's Sym- phony No. 8 "Unfinished" and the famous Symphony No. 5 by Beethoven. Featured will be the Oshawa Symphony Orchestra con- ducted bv Winston Webber.
