Eleven mien, including one Whitby man, have pleaded guilty to committing indecent acts at a Bay Store public washroom at the Oshawa Centre. The il were axnong 36 men, charged by Durham Regional Police last month after receiving complaints fromn the Bay.' Police set up hidden cameras in the washroom, taping the acts. The il pleaded guilty at Oshawa provincial court last Thursday, April 14. Nine of the il mren were fined $150 and ordered to stay out of the Oshawa Centre for one year. They are Ernst Hart, 67, of Agincourt; Mark Broderick, 28, of Bancroft; Gilbert Mallais, 18, of Oshawa; Helmut Faust, 59, of Orillia; Joseph Arvay, 19, of Whitby; Stephen Johns, 31, of Oshawa; Phillip Callaghan, 47, of Oshawa; Dean Spencer, 27,,of Ajax; and Bryan Forbes, 21, Of Oshawa. Another man, Carl Starr, 24, Of Toronto, received a $200 fine. Court heard that Starr had a previous criniinal record. Peter Canario, 20, of Oshawa, pleaded guilty to three counts of comniitting an indecent act. He will be sentenced on May 9. Three other men are to stand trial in May, 1989, while another 13 are to stand trial in June, 1989. Another eight nmen are to appear in court during the next four weeks to have trial dates set. Court issued a bench warrant for another man, Roger LeBlane, 34, of New Brunswick, who-failed ta appear in court. Two receive burn-s Two men were treated and released from hospital for burns suffered after they both were splashed by grease from a deep fryer at Casey~s Restaurant Sat- urday night. Durham Regional Police report- Richard Cooney, 26, of Oshawa slipped while walking through the kitchen of the restaurant. Cooney collided with a fellow employee, Dean Mizen, 16, of 400 Lupin Dr., who also fell ta the ground. a Both were splashed with hot grease. Mizen received second degree burns ta bis right hand and arm and was treated and -released from Whitby General Hospital.
