Local students will be performing at the Pickering Town Centre, a nuruber of neighboring Catholic schools and senior citizens homes. A bookiet 'will be published with students' stories and poemns based on the theme 'Dare to Dreani,' and activities such as a food drive and serving at masses have been suggested to the local parish priests as appropriate church-related activities. The Whitby Mail will host a static display of separate school activities fi April 18-23. The purpse of the proposed by-iaw is to provide additional monies for the improvement, beautification and maintenance of the Whitby Central Business District Improvement Area and the promotion of the area as a business and shopping area. The effect of the proposed by-law will be to increase the maximum permissibie charge the Council may annualiy levy from $70,000.00 to $85,600.00. The by-law will apply to ail persons assessed for business assessment in the Whitby Central Business District Improvement Area as shown below. Any person who would be hiable to the special charge may object.to the proposed by-law by f iling written notice of the objection with the Clerk of the Corporation of the Town of Whitby not later than the llth day of May, 1988. If no notice of objection is filed with the Clerk within the time provided the by-law will come into effect upon its final passing by the Council. If a notice of objection is filed with the Clerk within -the time provided the proposed by-law will b. submitted to the Ontario Municipal Board and the by-law will not corne into effect until approved by the Ontario Municipal Board.
