Four Oshawa Vikings' rugby teams reached either semi-fina] or final rounds before getting beaten in the recent Ontario Rugby Union's Budweiser 7's tournament. The under-19 team won the consolation championship in their age division, losing only one gaine, 11-6 to Stoney Creek, in the round-robin. The Vikings' under-19s defeated Toronto Saracens 28-O and Balmy Beach 12-O before the loss to Stoney Creek. In the consolation semi-final Vikings downed Beaconsfleld, Que., 42-O, and then York 14-4 in the final. Vikings' senior team reached the semi-finals in their division before falling 16-O to Burlington. In the round-robin Vikings defeated Brock 6-4, London 34- O, Atoms win consolation titie Whitby's major atom (under 10) rep soccer team won the consolation championship of the recent Roy Smyth memorial tournament in Welland. Whidtby defeated Waterloo, Woodbridge and West Rouge in the preliminary round, their only loss, by a 3-1 score, dealt by Brampton, the eventual tournament champions. Whitby defeated Welland in the Durham hosts tetrathion The Durham Pony Club is hosting the national tetrathlon Aug. 4, 5 and 6, with the riding events te, be held in north Whitby off the townline road, just east of Hwy 12. About 75 competitors from clubs across Canada as well as from England, Ireland and Scotland will take part. The Durham club will be represented by Karen Burt of Ashburn, Tiffany De Wit of Brooklin, Bobbi Lehman of Brooklin, Melissa Evans of Uxbridge and Donna Brewer of Scarborough. The tetrathlon includes riding, running, shooting and swimming competitions. The riding will be held Aug. 4 at the Falkenharh farm in north Whitby, running ât Pickering College, shooting at the consolation championship final. Chekaluk had three goals for Whitby in the final. In league play, Chekaluk scored three goals to help Whitby to a 5-O win over Oshawa Italia. Aspden and Death had the other goals in the win which kept Whitby in second place.
