The team, coached by Ed Chung, won 14 games and tied one, scoring .68 goals and allowing only eight. Eleven of the team's 14 wins were by shutout, with goaltender Peter Brown. Whitby won the Oshawa invitational and reached the finals of the international Robbie tournament. The Whitby Oldtimers Soccer Club wiil hold their fifth annual over-30 soccer tournament at Peel Park in Whitby on Sunday, Sept. 11. .Teamis from Wobumn and Cobourg, and last year's champion, Scarborough Centen- niai Royals, will also take part. Play begins at 9 a.m. The final starts at 4:30 p.m. tournament Sept. 3 to 5. The Whitby team will be sponsored by the Texas Gunners Soccer Club and will train for four days with the U.S. club before the tournament. Teams from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America wili ta«ke part. AI Baker said it was first time. he could remember a Whitby bantam team at least earning a victory at the Ontario finals. And he said the players could look back on a fine season,, including an EOBA championship. Most of the team members will he midget age next year. And inany members of this year's Whitby mnidget team will remain at that level to probably produce a strong team.
