The dlocks will be used by the Ontario Curling Association (OCA) at the Ontario playdowns before the Briar (Canadian final), and according to Sun Life chairmnan Rob Morton of Whitby, this was an opportuntiy to introduce the players to the clocks. While a final time limit has not been set, Morton says a gaine wïIll be limited to two and a haif hours to three hours in duration. 'Last year's final at the bonspiel went three and a half hours. That's a ridiculous amount of time," says Morton, who is returning for his fourth teri as chairmnan. He says it has not been decided if the dlocks will be used just for demonstration or if a penalty will be assessed to any teamns going- over the time limit. "Even the penalty is still in the air," says Morton. He says the OCA will supply the dlocks and personnel to monitor them while the com- mittee staging the bonspiel will be in charge of telling curlers they are out of turne. Morton says the time luit is needed to maintain curling as a spectator sport. While he says a ti.me lmit should speed up, the game, he warns it could also remove spectacular shots that can occur in curling because a team has run out of time to plot a strategy. It will make it a slightly different game," says Morton. Ail participants have been informed they will be faced with a tume humit. Among those expected to attend are 1983 Canadian and world champion Ed Werenich, 1897 Ontario champion Paul Savage and Rick Bachand, winner of the Sun Life bonspiel in 1986 and runner-un in 1987.
