A total- of 20 Tr-illium awards and nine menit awards were pre- sented to furniture manufac- turers in 13 categories at the banquet, sponsored jointly by the Ontario Ministry of Industry, Trade and Technology and the Ontario Furniture Manufac- turers' Association. Sklar-Peppler of Whitby won for 'Style 191' in the modern./ contemporary upholstered suite category, and for 'Style 281' in the traditional upholstered sec- tionals category. The Whitby company also won an award of ment for 'Sklar-Peppler Gal- leries' in the collections category. Sklar-Peppler of Hanover won Trillium awards in the categories of traditional bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, and wall systenis. "These awards not only reflect the importance of our domestic furniture indusr, but they also pay homage to O ntario's entre- preneunial spirit," said Monte Kwinter, Ontario Minister of In- dustry, Trade and Technology, who was the keynote speaker at the l5th annual banquet. He presented the Grand Tril- hum, the special Minister's award, to Flair Furniture, a divi- sion of Queen City Bedding Co. Ltd. of Downsview. Flair was honored for its model $4820 tra- ditional tuxedo style upholstered suite. Flair also won other Trilliums, for modern/contemporary uphols- tered sectionals, and for tradi- tional upholstered suite. The Grand. Trillium is given to the furniture manufacturer whose product was udged to contain the best overaýlivalue in its quality, design and marketing of Ontario furniture. Kaufman Furniture of Colling- wood won Trilliunis for the cate- gories of modern/ contemporary bedroom furniture and, tradi- tional occasional tables. Strath- roy Furniture. of Strathroy won in the categories of accent furni- ture and collections. Other Trillium awards went to Liberty Furniture of Concord (dinette furniture ), Three H Manufacturing of New Liskeard (ready-to-assemble furniture), Brentwood Furniture of Downs- view (traditional occasional chairs and country/ colonial upholstered suite), restline Furniture of Downsview (coun- try/ colonial occasional chairs), Mair Fumniture of Downsview (modernlcontemporary occasional tables), Serta Mattress (Star Bedding) of Downsview (inner sprng sleep products) and Serta Toronto (Star Bedding) of Downsview (foam sleep pro- ducts).
