A new under-flywheel ignition system on all two-cylinder englues (4 deluxe through 50 horsepower), uses fewer components and electrical connections te simplify engine wiring and improve appearance. The new system also offers overspeed protection, which prevents an engine &Io running faster than the recommended RPM. All Johnson GT 150 and 175 horsepower models, except the standard 150, are equipped with QuikStart ignition system and the SLOW feature for greater reliability. QuikStart is an electronic increases idie speed. on cold starts by automatically advancing the spark until engine temperature is up te, normai operating range. This eliminates the need to work the fast idle lever as the engine warmns up. When the motor is warmn, QuikStart advances the timing for approximately five seconds for easy restarts. The SLOW warning system senses engine overheating, sounds the overbeat warning horn and automatically limits engine speed to approxîmately 2500 RPM. When the engine bas cooled, the horn will stop sounding. The SLOW function may be reset by stepping and restarting the motor after it bas cooled.
