The student council deserves a thank you for their much appreciated work in making April (Spirit Month) a great success. Several students froni the Gr. il history classes departed on a trip to Washington, D.C. lest Wednesday. Though they only had a brief visit, the students enjoyed the trip immensely. The group spent most of the time touring and siglit seeing until they made their return tip on Sunday.f The Denis O'Connor spring fashion show was held on May 2. Many Gr. 12 students as well as teachers at DOUC modeled in the show, which contributed to its suceess. The show was excellent, and included wonderful clothing from a variety of different sponsors. Also on May 2 the Gr. 12 religion classes went on their retreat. Due to the spring weather, the Gr. il classes will also be going on retreat this month. The retreat will be held at the Scarborough Foreign Mission. The Gr. il geography class will be going on an exciting field trip May 16. First, the group will go to the Toronto Planetarium, and then they will have a chance to visit the Royal Ontario Museum. Throughout the year at Denis O'Connor, several dances are held. As promised, the student council is organizing a semi-formal dance which will be held at the end of May. Unfortunately, thids will be the last dance of the vear aside from the graduation dance. The senior girls' soccer teani is enjoying another excellent season. The basebali teani has had many victories, and the girls' lacrosse teani won a tournament which was held in Belleville last week. The cheerleading squad is buy preparing for an uncoming competition in Toronto. Good luck for their future success! In foMart at Henry on Fri*day The guidance department at Henry Street I-gh School, in cooperation with the Department of Health Services-Durham Region, is planning a Awareness Info .Mart, Friday May 12, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Target groups for the Info Mart are Or. il and 12 students. The goal is to promote knowledge Of community resources for adolescents in Wihitby (Durham Region). Objectives are to increase awareness Of available community resources in areas of employment, health and social services; provide an opportunity for students, teachers, administrators and community agency personnel to interact; to encourage personal responsibility in recognizing the need for and accessing these services. He was born on May 30, 1924 in li-meer, Holland, son of Jacob DeZeeuw and Pieternella DeZeeuw-v/d Sluys. Mr. DeZeeuw is survived by his wife Margaretha Wilhelmina (Grace), daughter Yolande of Oshawa, sister Wil DeGroot and brother Wim DeZeeuw, both of the Netherlands, and sister Trien Kranenburg of Edmonton, Alta.
