Cable changes effective june 26 Rogers Cablesystems recently announced a channel realignment program 'which will take effect J une 26 for 1.4 million cable subscribers across Canada. The change in channel positions is necessary Vo. provide space for OBO Newsworld, the Canadian ail-news channel which goes on air July 31. In response to customer reaction, Rogers is also making a number of changes, where possible, Vo make the lineup easier and more convenient Vo use. As a result, Canadian TV stations have been grouped ogether, as have U.S. TV stations,, and scrambled pay TV channels have been located at the upper end of the diae. Also, by standardizing the location of cable networks, it is hoped. that any future changes will involve a minimum number of channels. The extent of the. channel realignment varies from one community Vo another. In some areas, the changes will be relatively minor, mostly involving the upper range of channels. But in some cases, it was necessary Vo efl'ect a major shift in the lineup. In reorganizing channels, it was necessary Vo take inVo consideration reguiatory guidelines on the placement of services.
