For me, the city is a metaphor for the boundless maze of indirect relationships and technological conditions that people experience in everyday life." Carr was born in Toronto in 1944. He studied commercial art and design at Danforth Technical School. He graduated from the Ontario College .of Art, and then obtained a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Guelph. He holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of E- 4 E- 4 E- Chicago and currently teaches lithography and drawing at McMaster University, Hamilton. He has a powerful social message and an evocative visual vocabulary full of art historical allusion through which he wryly comments on life today. Circulated by the MacDonald- Stewart Art Centre, Guelph, Better Living was guest curated by Deirdre Hanna. The support of the Canada Council, through a project grant from the Visual Arts Section, enabled the Centre to publish the catalogue. Grants from the Ontario Arts Council and McMaster University funded a portion of production costs.
