Their fundraising efforts h ave certainly paid off. Back in May the Staff Fundraising Committee set a goal to maise more than $75.000 for the Hospital's First Class Fund. The plan was to achieve that total through special events andi personal gifts over the next five years. SNow, only three months into the campaign, they've alreacly raiseci more than $50,000. "The response has been temrfic," says Gaile Calder, Chairperson of the Staff Fundraising committee. "This clearly ciemonstrates our enthusiasm and commitment to the Hospital." The $50,000 has been raised through one time gifts, pledges and a staff walk-a-thon held in May. The wa1k-ýa-thon was quite a hit and wvill become an annual fundraising event. To celebrate the staff's success, the First Class Fund Campaign Office sponsored an appreciation barbecue on August 10. Along with the hotdogs, a number of prizes were served Up including a VCR, Toronto Blue Jay tickets, and gift certificates clonated by local restuarants. The Staff Campaign is one of the first in the overaîl plan to raise $5.5 million from the public sector for Whitby G eneral Hospital. Redevelopment of the hospital will include construction of a new wing, the addition of new health care technology, and an expansion of hospital services. .for a flrst class community!!1. -This space pro vided as a public service by the Witby Free Press. -1 You D on't Ha1-k ve lb Hur t Lower back pain?
