In the wrd of computers, many choose to buy theirhard- ware (computers) before selecting their software (comnputer. pro- grams). Margaret fllig of Creative Soft- ware Solutions in Whitby, says, "Buy your softwear first. It gives people more options. Then they can comparative shop for the best hardware." Illig cails ber company a third option which tailors softwear to meet the needs of the customner. "No two companies are alike," says Illig."I'ye neyer installed a system that's been the same. Canned software packages are the first option. They are fairly inexpencive but are also inflex- ible. They cannot be changed and will not grow along with the company. Option number two, totally custom- written software, is both ideal and expensive, costing literally thousands of dollars. Illig developed Creative Soft- wear Solutions, which opened in downtown Whitby on July 10 as a resuit, of bier 18 years as a systems analyst an d computer programmer. "My creative softwear is tailor- made for the company, at a third of the cost of custom-written software," claimis Illig. Some of the on-line systems available include order entrv. in- voicing, miventory control, sales analysis, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, payroll, mnaster file maintenance and electronic mail. As a follow-up to the tailored software, Creative Software Solutions also offers com plete training and on-going telephone support included as part o f their service.'
