Each week until September, the Whitb F'ree Press will publish a picture of an architectural detail of a building in Whitby (including Brooklin, Ashburn and Myrtle). Each correct identification (only one per person per woek) will be entered in a draw to win a book courtesy of LACAC*. The draw takes place the following Tuesday momning at 10:00 arn. Watson-Galbraith House - 1733 Dufferin Street The house was built circa 1857 for John Watson, a wealthy grain nierchant i Port Whitby and the first town councillor for Port Whtby. Together with fames Rowe, Watson helped develop the Port into a hriving community i the 1850's and 1860's. They're the ones who find ways to use th( talents to help others. They may help at a day ca centre as a volunteer, or slip next door on regular basis to help an elderly friend, or handicapped person. These are young people wi reach out a hand to help in any way they ca without thought of reward. The kinds of things th( do are as varied as the communities in which the live. We are also seeking young people who have overcome a physical handicap and have managed to do it with grace, dignity and courage. Many young people have been faced with this kind of challenge from birth, or due to accident or disease thev have fouqht a daily battle to maintain a a dfference norîrial life.' They, too, deserve our attention. We also seek those who have a measurable difference through an act of bravery, an act of courage beyond what the average young person faces in daily life. We need you to help us find these young heroes. Junior Citizen nomninationswill corne in from al over Ontario, and ail those nominated will be recognized with a certif icate. From ail nominations received,, the judges will select about 12 (as well as a group of young people who Work as a team or club> to receive Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year awards. They will bring their families to Toronto where they will be introduced to Lieutenant Governor Lincoln Alexander and receive a plaque citing the ýreason for their recognition, a Junior Citizen pin, a cheque for $200 and a family portrait with the Lieutenant Governor. lt's a ceremony young recipients and their families will long remember. 'Tou can't apply the views of (Newman Ores. residents) to some other areas of town," said Bugelli. Throughout this ordeal of local improvement this man (with the exception of Mr. Kuwahara) has given us the most trouble and the least help. He is, sadly enough, our own ward councillor.
