Whitby started the tourna- ment with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over the host teain. Brian Lodge scored two goals with singles from Ian Macei and Brian Scott. In their second gaine, Whitby doninated Chinguacousy for a 10-0 victory. McNeil scored three goals while 'Jeremy Schott and Lodge each liad a pair, singles to Adam Shields, -Brad Oliver and Scott. Whitby's third game against London resulted in their only loss of' the tournament, by a 3-1 score. Matt St. Amnand scored the oni goal for Whitby. '7hie fourth gaine against a much larger West Mail team was a test for the Whitby squad. They won 3-1 in a great team effort, Scott scoring twice and McNeil once. In the final, Whitby again faced London, but on thi occa- sion Whitby pulled out ail the stp ôwin 5-3. Scott, McNeil, Lodge, Matt Cardwell and Daryli Whitlock scored for Whitby Rob Fodor and Barry Crawford were solid in net for Whitby throughout the tournament. The first team was drubbed 27-7 by Ottawa Beavers in the first round of the Intermediate Cup which determines the two teams that will move up to the Ontario Senior League next sea- son. However, Vikings still have a chance. Vikings must defeat Windsor in a November gaine and then Windsor must also lose to Ottawa, to enable Vikings and Ottawa to advance. In the garne against Ottawii, Vikings again played shorthan- ded. brett Démonchuk, a junior p ayer, scored a late try for Vikings while Mike Clayton had a penalty.. Vikings were also scheduled to play recently in the consolation round of the Marshall Cup. Vikings' second teain also lost recently in the first round of the Toronty Rugb Union second division playos. Vikings lost 8-4 to Barrie, but still have an opportunity to win the championship with further action scheduled. Andy Finn had Vikings' only try. ANDERSON CVI girls' field hockey team lost 2-0 to Dunbarton and then upset Eastdale 2-1 in games last 3team tities- for Thomnton, Pringle Dr. Robert Thornton and Prin- gle Creek public schools each won three team titles at the Whitby public schools' cross country meet held at Daamar Ski Resort last week. Thornton won the 8-year-old boys', 9-year-old boys' and 12- year-old boy s' team titles. Alison Gose of Thornton won the 8- year-old girls' individual title. Gxaies'meeting The Durham Ontario Senior Gaines are holding their fifthi annual meeting on Nov. 6, 1:30 p.m., at the Pickering Senior Citizens? Activity Centre, 910 Liverpool Rd. S., Pickering. Each year a municipality of Durham has provided facilities and assistance to host the annual meeting. The Town of Pickering accepted the challenge for 1989. The meeting is open to the public.
