Trees to be replaoe.àqm.d Town council has called for the removal of 168 trees fromn vani- ous locations in Whitby and the planting of 207 new trees. At its Oct. 10 meeting, council accepted the low tender of Pro- fc--sional Tree Service Ltd, in the amount of $43,010, for the removal of dead trees. Council accepted . the low ten- der of $67,224 by VanHolland Landscaping Ltd. for the plant- in gof 207 tree replacements. Each year the Town replaces trees at vanious locations within the municipality. This year tree replacements will help to im- prove the downtown business core, Regency Village,- Pringle Park, Iroquois, Ash §treet, Fal- lingbrook, Longwood and Pal- merston parks. Several trees on various streets will also be included in the replacement program. Jamie Bennett of Marshall Macklin Monaghan, representing thie applicant, noted that a sur- vey o) residents showed that 95 per cent had no objections. lie said the development would have minimal impact, in- chiding trafflic impact, and he res pOnded to several questions anciconcerns of one Garrard Rd. rc'sident, who said he opposed thie subdivision.
