The club, with Bernard Boyce as fundraising chairman, bas organized -concerts, garage sales and bake sales, and sold fire starters, made of wax and wood sbavings, to raise ftunds. The team, coached by Cath Dalton and managed by Sandy Johnston, consists of 32 mem- bers, aged 14 and over. Tey will travel to Gotenburg, Sweden to attend a Dec. 28-30 international competition. Silver Stick starËts Thursday Whitby will be host of the international AAA silver stick - -tournament Nov. 23-26 for minor atom, minor peewee and minor bantam teams from the U.S. and Canada. Games- will be played at the Iroquois Park and Luther Vipond Memorial arenas. Qtpening cere- monies tomorrow (T1iiursday), to begin at 7:30 p.m., will feature local celebrities and Whitby's Ice Angels (novice) and Ice F'yre (senior) precision skating teams. Teams from Chicago, Detroit, London, North Bay, Toronto' Sault St. Marie and Windsor wili compete in the tournament organized by Gloria and Del Rints of BrooklinfWhitby minor hockey. Whitby's minor atom team will take on AAA clubs. Minor peewee and bantam AA teams, including those from Whitby, will compete in the regional silver stick tournament, to be held at the samne time as the international silver stick. Bryan Crouch, Mark Haynes, Daniel Thorne and Darryl Lewis sparked the Whitby attack, while Arron Bryant and Donny Campbell on defence belped netminder Josh Evans secure the shutout. Assists were tallied by Feret (3), witb Schlitt, Mueller and ýShane Neil each getting one. Whitby won the third gamne in the last minute of double over- time to scrape past Cobourg 8-7 to win the consolation tropby. Goals were scored by Hleinrich (3), Ryan McArthur (2), Schee- pers and Neil. Assisting on the goals were Schlitt (4), McArthur ai d Heinrich (2) and Scheepers. with both teamns not, wantingto make any.early mistakes.The second period saw Whitby gain a bit more control with fine -efen- sive effort fromn Campbell, Bryant, Bryan Denyes, and Danny Ricica, with some sounid goalkeeping from Harrison.
