M & MMeats cuts Ajax down twioe in league play Whitby M&M Meats miner atom hockey team recently won two league games against Ajax, the first a fairly quiet 4-2 affair, the second was a 5-0 roasting. In the first game on Nov. 219, Whitby saw one cf their utility players, Bria Crouch, come back off injured reserve. Crouch, combined with the attack cf Jason. Hotchkiss and Brian Crilly, gave the team the offen- sive edgeè they needed. It was an even gamne with Bilan Harrison showing con- fidence and pose between the posts. As usual the defensive unit cf Chris Kerr, Donny Camp- bell, Danay Ricica, Aaron Bryant and Denyer stopped the Ajax defence when the pressure was applied in Whitby's end. In the second gae on Dec. 2, Whitby abolished Amjax 5-0 with some suberb passing and skating along with an overall team effort. ISe Fyre will compete in the first international precision skat- ing competiten cf the new year. The teain will be attending coin- petitions on Dec. 28-30 in Swe- den, and Jan. 5-6 in Finland. The target figure cf the fun- draising effort, under chairman Brnard Boyce, is $75,000. Tee Fyre started planning mn June for the trip to Scandinavia. Fundraising activities have in- cluded garage and bake sales, a skate-a-thon (which raised $1,200), a fashion show ($1,250) and the Hgod Hardy concert at Eastdale CVI ($8,400). Members have also sold Saran wrap, tinfoil, cheese and 'Ice Fr e starters, ' used te light fire- paces, the latter sales estimated te, have raised more than $9,000.
