After complaints, Town to again review pool ratés By Scott Laurie The proposed pooli, admission rates for 1990, which, sparked numerous public complaints have foroed the Town ýparks anc1 recreation department to re-eva- luate their decision. According te, Larry Morrow, director of the parks and recrea- tion department, swimming and skating were established at the sanie rate in order te develop «some consistency» between the rates. Most prices remained rela- tivelIy unchanged, except for the seniors' rate which was, pre- viously $1 for skating and 50 cents for swimnmingr. Both rates were set at $1 for 1990. Morrow says that the rate for seniors had remained unchanged for quite some time and the increase was appropriate. The parks and recreation department completed a survey in the surrounding area, as weIl as the Greater Toronto Area, on pool rates, and Morrow felt that the proposed rates were in lime. Under the new proesal, the annual and quarterly swirn F asses were discontinued in avor of one-time rates (for adulte, children seniors and familles) and boo;ks of 10 passes ($40 for a famil) The annual pass used te cost $85 per person. Based on using the pool three times a weksimpe with the yearly pass were paying approximately 55 cents a tie. Tis, according te the parks and recreation directer's report, was a significant discrepaneyin relation to the 1989 aduit cost of $1.75 per swim. Complainte over the new rates have led Morrow's department te re-evaluate the changes and put forth another jýroposà l te council., - - - - - - - - - - - LKE ONTARIO iIICSTEEL COMPANY HOPKINS ST.
