Mcllwain is faxiliar ta Whitby theatre-goers both for bis efforts as musical director on previcus shows including 'Oklahoma!' and 'Kismet,' sud as an actor from bhis appearances in those musicals and in ' Noises Off." He was doubly honored last season by being nominated as outstanding musical director for 'Kismet' by Thesatre Ontario adjudicators in Toronto, and as outstanding lead actor for 'Noises Off' at Brockville. He is assisted by local inusician and composer Myra Whyte, whose credits include several original songe for the. iset season's Youth Group workshop show, 'Dreame.' 'Little Shop cf Horrors' is choreographer Cathy Dube's second production for Whitby Courthouse Theatre. She made her debut last season as choreographer for the large-scale musical, ' Kismet.' Designer Chris Francoin has designed several productions in Durham, including Oshawa Little Theatre'ii. Inl 1982 their musical version opened off-Broadway for a very successful run, and a movie adaptation starring Rick Morani*s (with a slightly different ending) was rêleased in 1986. ' Little Shop cf Horrors' established the careers cf composers Ashinan and Menkin, who received a best original sonu Oscar for one cf the additional songe they composed especially for the. film version.
