An Wement was reached last week between tbe hoard and the employees' union over plans to chop 300 jobs as a cost-cutting measure. Rather than lay off workers, the board bas agreed to use attrition and rescheduling ocf part-time employees' shifts toecut costs. The 5,000 LCBO workers, members of the Ontario iàquor Board Employees' Union, are employed in retail outlets, 'ware- bouses, such as the one in Whitby, and at the LOBO main office in Toronto. Even though they are governed bthe Crown Employees Collec- tieBargaining Act and preven- ted fromi striking, the workers were prepared to take that risk. Recent LCBO forecasta projeet that the volume of liquor sold at the board's 625 stores will fail by 5.9 cent or 12 million litres this year. SWISC's technical evaluation of those expessions of interest and the proposed next stops, will ho discussed at the meeting.
