Then his luck changed -- twice. *A radio station in Oshawa was having a contest, and 1 called in and won,u says ick, 39. «W pnize was a ticket on a 1955 Chevrolet Namad that was being raffted off at the Oshawa Centre. wWe went down ta the shopping centre when they drew the number, and was standing right behind the stage when they pulled it out. Even before they- callod it and 1 ol- o i a yha d rtn on the ticket. 1 was stunned.- The 1955- Nomad (the highly desirable, top-of-the..line station wagon) was alreacly a Street rod, but Fick eventually redid the entire car. In addition ta rebuilding the mnotor, he also addecj power steering andi brakes and repainted It. He sold the car seven years later, in .1986, because his interest had naw tumed to 1930s cars. He bought a 1933 Ford two-door which he starteci ta build, but in the meantime found a 1934 Ford' three-window coupe which he wanted even more. ("Three-windown means there are no quarter windows, only the two doors and mear window.> Olt was very rough when I got it,* Rick says. Olt was basically a body held together with screws. There was no floor, no firewall and no frame. Linda is also a car enthusiast; when Rlick owned the 1955, she had a 1959 Impala which she eventually -sold ta her daughter.
