This annual call is a partof the Ministry of Health's initiative to increase health promotion activiýy at a local level. Grants are available to any non-profit group or .organization w Ic hs th e capability to receive, handie and account for public funds. Examples3 of eligible activities includo such things as:, * hiring a facilitator, for a short period, to examine local health promotion isslues; e local workshops or forums to encourage community partici- pation ini health promotion activities; *cryig out a speciflc health promtionproject, for example, raising self-esteem, among c-hildrer. or teenagers in a particular neighborhood or community. It is requested that propos be subniitted by Jan. 4, 1991 in order to be reviewed and forwarded to the ministry for the Feb.* 1, 1991 deadline, in order to be considered .or 199091 funding. Propsais may be submitted at any time after that deadline but, if approved, would receive flmding under the 1991/92 fiscal year budget.. What every tenant and landiord should know about Ontarjo's rent control plans. The Ontario government plans to replace the current rent review system with rent control . There will be fr11 public consultation on this new system of rent control with tenants, landlords, munici- palities and intQrested groups and individuals throughout Ontario.- Meanwhile, the Ministry of Housing has introduced legislation which will limit rent increases while the government develops a new system of rent control. This is a temporary measure. It will limit most rent increases to the guideline of 4.6 % for 1990 and 5.4 % for 1991. Lt will apply from October 1, 1990.
