Sandy ye Durham -Regioinalice Crime Stoper and the Durhain Regional Policer are apeaing for te public's help m solvinga theft which occurred in Bowmanville on JuIy 19. At about 3:15 p.m.a man and ýwoman entered the- Bowmanville Mail on Hlighway 42 at Simpson Avenue'. They went to GoId Reflections which is the jewehry countar in the centre of the mail. At first they walked around and'then they stopped at a couniter which contained rings. As they both stood there, the mani Ieaned over and attempted to open the showcase but was unsuccessful. The woman thon went to the other aide and* kept the clerks attention while the maxi tried numerous turnes to open the glass case. He eventually was successful and took a tray of 12 rings valued at $6,000 and hid them under bis jacket. Hel walked over to where lus partner was standing and they both Ieft the store. Police feel they xnay have left in a large white car. The entire theft was recorded on video by a mail camera. The suspects are deacribed as: #1- a white female, abot 30 years, 5'411, 150 Ibo, shortish brown' hair, wearing clark pants.and a horizontal-striped top; *1 #2- a white man, aged about 30 years, 5'10" ' 200 Ibo, dark shortish hair, clark pants and a white casual jacket. Police believe the saine two suspects were responsible for a"' similar theft at the Gift Shoppe in Madoc where a tray of ring were stelen. Two siniilar incidents occurred at the Liandsowne Plaza in Peterborough, at Sears Jewellers and Cortesis Jewellers. Again, jewelry was stolen.
