"I would not take one-third because I don't think it's necess- ary,» he said, noting many people are struggling financially in th e current recession. Buffett said she could make more money in her own business than as a member of council. Edwards said he ugets a kick" out of being on council and is not going for the mayor for the money. He said helping to keep employment in Whitby is proof of hisleadership qualities. Edwards said he succeeded in getting a motion passed at regional council to keep the regional headquarters in Whitby. le said residents should ask themselves «which individual do I want te represent my com- munity.» Emm said the preservation of heritage buildings will help keep the small tewn atmosphere in Whitby. «The challenge is to maintain these things that make Whitby special' he said.
