Seven contestants will vie for this year's titie: - Aznber Woodman from Oshawa; - Minette Vanderlinden fromn Whitby; - Cynthia Schwartzenhauer from Whitb*y; - Jennifer Davis from Brooklin* - Keri Ferguson from Brooklin;' - Jennifer Cossette from Brooklin; - Diniu Codlin froni Brooklin; - Shelly Nelson from Whitby. On Thursday, June 4, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Luther Vipond arena, the 1992 Miss Broolin Pageant will continue a tradition and, give some of the local ongldie a chance te have a unique experience, says, Kei Death, chair of the pageant committee. 'We have the girls meet each other, watch videos from the previous year and learn what te watch'for during the competition," she says. Death says there wilI be a rehearsal for the contestants, on -the evening preceding pageant night, te get ready for the big evening..' ,The winner of the Miss Brooklin pageant will travel te Toronto in Augmist for the* ONE Ambassador (forxnerly Miss ONE) contest with other fair queens from the province (the Miss ONE pageant has been discontinued). .There will be a Miss Congeniality award presented as well as prizes for best modelling. Each participant in the pageant will receive a plaque and a $25 gift certificats froni Brooklin Village Shop. Contestants are required.te be between ages 17 and 23, and never mnarried. .Death herself was a pageant contestant ini 1990, and becaine an assistant on the fair board for the event last year. She says the experience helped her feel more confident when speaking in a group of people or in front of a crowd.
