Next Whitby faced a slbed Detroit GPD club and knocked off the Micbigan-based teain 6-3. Down had' a goal and two assiets with single maricers going te Frazer, Peyman, Farquharson, McBride and Jay Harison. After already assuring theinselves a spot in the playoff round, the Wbitby, squad skated te a2-2 drw th the Don Mills Flyers in the third and final gaine of the preliminary round. I the quarter-finals, Whitby camne up against Ricbmond Hill- Vaughan, one of the strongest clubs at their age level in Ontario. The ichmond Hill squad had defeated Whitby in their only two previous meetings this year, both in regular season play, but the locale got a nieasure of revenge, knocldng off the OMHA champs 4-3 and sending the tournament* favourites home empty-handed. Once again, Down came up big, notcbing two goals, giving bini four goals and seven pointa for the tournament.
