London won 4-2 on Sunday te win the six-pint series 6-2. Whitby went into gaine three trailing in tbe series tbree pints te one and looking for its first victery of tbe series. Whitby opened the scoring early in the second period on a geai by Ryan Boyd which stood up until the last minute of the third period wben London scored. Coing inte tbe overtime period, Whitby again scored early, on a geai by Nick Owen. But again London came back witb less than a minute te go te tie tbe gaine. Whitby beaded back te London fer gaine four trailing in the series four points te twe. London scored early in tbe first period but Whitby replied with Boyd tying tbe game midway tbrough the first. The second period ended with the score again tied 2-2. Scoring Whitby's second geal was Casey Dupont. London scored early in tbe third and netted tbeîr fourth and iast goal of the gaine as Whitby was trying te get tbe equalizer. The trip home Sunday night was disappointing, but coacbes Jin Boyd, Gary Marsball, Serge jDupnt and Mike Haynes were ai prud of tbe team tbat was Whtby's only AAA representative in the OMHA finals. Whitby concluded tbe season by participating in tbe Markbam AAA teurnainent, and bad a tie in tbree gaines. Whitby lest the opening game te Brampton 4-2. General manager and ceach Wayne Colley bas extended an invitation te more than 50 Plates members of the 1992 team will be retumning and it is expected that there will be intense cempetitien fer the remaining positions. .Colley wilI be assisted this year by Ian Wailes, Jery Fitzgerald and Dave Holdin&. Wailes jis the Warriors thiîs year aftr several successful seasons ef coaching in the Whitby miner lacrosse systein. Fitzgerald joined the Wa rriors' ceaching staff miidway through the 1992 season, replacirg fermer assistant ceach Lorne Briscoe. Prier te turning te coaching, Fitzgerald was a member of the Broilin Redmen for several seasens and played a prominent role in the Rednien's four Mann Ouo victories between 1985 and 1900. Holding is a former Warrier and Redmen whe wili be using bis experience te assist Wayne with this year's goaltenders. Aiso jeining the 1993 staff is Jim Bishop who will be responsible for player developinent. Bishop's success at ail levels of lacrosse over many years is unmatched. Warriors, under the direction of fermer player and current executive member Greg MeConneli, are establishing at Whitby junior lacrosse alumni association. North Toronte started eut aggressively and bemmned Whià tby in their own end for most of the first period. The excellent goaltending of Justin Zammit aliowed Whitby te witbstand tbe pressure and the first period ended scoreless. Whitby gained tbeir skating legs in the second period and this resulted in Matthew Rae and David Besco scoring. Kevin Taylor assisted on betb geais with some tenacieus forechecking. Whitby continued te carry the play in the third period. Luc Chiassen scored Whitby's third goal off a beautiful pass froin Andrew Allison. Andrew completed the scoring with an unassisted geai witb three seconds ieft. April 2 te 4. Pia Schmidt-Hansen piaced Kirstin McCron was fourtb in first in open ladies freestyle and junior olympic (JO) freestyle. Andrea McCron was feurtb in juvenile figures. Jennifer Caukwell piaced fifth in JO IA freestyle. Andrea and Jennifer placed sixtb in JO pairs figures. Whitby's Pringle Creek IGA bunnies #2 ended a very successful ringette season on a winning note. The bunnies bammered Ajax #3 by ascore ofi11-4. Kailey Miller led ail scorers with seven goals with Karen McWilliarns, Elaine St. Onge, Karly Simpson and Tracy Kotarba picking up singletons. Assists were awarded to Lindsey Giordano (four), Sara Rossali (three), Simpson (three), Joanna Tellis, Corie Horwood, Katbryn Pratt, Laura Grey.Ellis and Mykala Abey. Kelly Matthews was strong in the Wrqitby net recording the win. In another previeus gaine, Whitby aise defeated Ajax #2 by a score of 6-4. McWilliams recorded the bat trick along witb an assist, Simpson netted a pair witb one belper, Matthews chipped in witb a goal and an assist. Abel, Giordano and Pratt were credited with assists. The Whitby teain ended the season with a very impressive record of 51 wins and oniy six losses. The teain dominated tbe 401 league and only suffered one defeat in.regular season play.
