Early in the first period, Whitby's Mark Reid opened the scoring with assists going to Craig Lanegger and Paul Webb. A short time later Calgary notched one of their own te tie the game. Eariy in the second period, Whitby again teok the lead with a goal from Jeremy McElhanney unassisted. Paul Webb then scered, assisted by Reid and Shane Terry, for a twe-goal advantage. One minute later Reid scored, assistd by Webb and Terry, extending the home team's lead by three goals. Whitby's goaltender Matt Visconti was oustanding in net, stoning the Calgary team as they had many excellent opportunities te score. Late in the second period Calgary camne back and scored, narrowing the home team's lead te two goals once again. The score remained 4-2 at the end of the second period. As the teams returned te the ice for the third period the fans gave beth teanis a big hand. Calgary then scored te close the gap te one goal. Seven minutes later Justin St. Onge scored te, give Whitby a two-goai, lead, assists going te, Terry and Brent Johnson. Calgary quickly responded te, narrow Whitby's lead te one goal again.
