Members want to see their city and town councils adopt the regional model bylaw regulating smoking in public places. The objectives of the network are to keep the spotlight on the issue that second-hand smoke is lethal and there is a need to control it, and to encourage everyone who supports tougher regulations on smoking in public places to let their local councillor know, by wvriting a letter, making a phone cail, starting a petition or making a presentation to council. They hope thatý by generating enough public support for the bylaw, local counicils will be convinced to adopt it. The network meets on an ongoing basis and welcomes members from ail municipalities.
