There are four age groups for the fiddle contest that will be held in Luther Vipondi Arena at 2 p.m. Divisions are age 12 and under, age 12«to 18, 19 te 59, and 60 and over. There is aise an open class in which contestants who "want te win a littie more money» may enter, says Doreen Squelch, chair of the fiddle and step dance committee. First, second and third prizes wiUl be distributed te winners in each class. Fiddlers must play a waltz, a jig, and a reel or breakdown or hornpipe. In ail, performers will play three different tunes. Stepdancers will aise be divided into five separate classes: age 12 and under, 12 te 18, intermediate class, 50 and over and the last is another open class. The heuse fiddler, J.J. Weiler, wiiI play for each couple a choice of a ciog, aj.ig and a reel. Dancers must dance te their choices consecutiveiy and without stepping. There will be three judges at the stepdance competition and "they're real good dancers, and they're hard to find,» says Squelch.
