Durham Regional Police have begun an inter-service exchange program with the Lindsay OPP detachunent and York Regional Police. Each exchange will invulve an officer from each service and will last for six menthe. The program began on May 31. Durham constable Angela Lettoneo will serve in Newmarket in place of York constable Mark Duvall who reported -te 17 Division Oshawa. Durham sergeant Dean Camspbell has been postod te the Lindsay OPP detachment in exchange for sergeant Bob MeManus of the Newcastle OPP. The inter-jurisdictional exchange program was introduced te foster botter relations between police services. The officers with the Durham, Regional Police will ho cycled through varieus prograzns within the department te give them an overview of different policîng practices. Both officers from Durham volunteered for the exchange. With the agreement of both police services, the agreement may ho extended. The officers involved are approximately the same age as the officers with whom they have exchanged, and have served about the same length of time. OBiTUARlES ALFRED JAMES BROOME Alfred James Broume of Whitby died on June 30 at Hilladale Maner, Oshawa. He was 94.' Mr. Broome, son of. Joseph Broome sud Eliza Smýith, was bers in Pudlestone, England on Oct. 23, 1898. Ho married Sarah Jane Williams on March 2, 1922. In 12-h immi'gratedto -Canada and l nthe Brools and Ashburn area until coning* te Wihitby in 1945. Mr. Broome was predeceased by hie wife Sarah, sons Kesneth, Richard sud Victor sud grandson Johnny Petrosky. He'is survived by son George ansd daughter Eileen Petroeky, grendchildren, great grand- children sud great-great grandchildren. The funeral took place on July 3 at W.C. At 7:15 p.m., a lune maie suspect entered the Bank of Montreal locatedt on the east aide of the Oshawa Sheppinq Centre. The suspect approached the teller's booth ana handed the victim a wrinled, white piece of paper and then announced that it was a hold-up. The robber demanded the money from under the coin tray and also demanded the hold-up note before running from the bank.
