Under-17s win tournament Whitby won the under-17 divi- sion of the Whitby Iroquois Select Soccer Tourriament recently Whitby defeated Brantford White Eagles 4-2 in extra time in the final. Eght soccer teams competed in 10 boys and girls divisions. Teams were from ail over Ontario and one team was from Bedford, Texas. "It was a great weekend of soccer," says tournament officiai Alan Kerr. "The standard was high in al a&e groups and the spirit in which the games were played was generaily very sporting." He praised t he conveners, directors, referees, Soccer City and St. John Ambulance volun- teers for "outstanding surp)pot." In girls' play, Erin Miis won the under-17, urider-15 and under-13 divisions, Grimsby won the under-il division and Ajax won the under-9 division.
