Adiniueîaajnznon Three students from Whitby high schools won silver medals at the Durham-York high schools' (DYSSA) tennis finals Oct. 20. Lety Marquez of Henry Street High School was second in junior grssingles com petition at DYrSSýA, held at the Mayfair Parkway Racquet Club. Claire Bramma and Peter Mis- evaki of Anderson CVI teamed to finish second in the junior mixed doubles finals. The three had won gold medals in their divisions at the Durham high schools' (LOSSA) competi- tion. Tim Videnka of Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School won the gold modal in the senior boys' singles competition at LOSSA. Serge Nadeau of Saint- Charles-Garnier was third among senior boys. Austin teains won both gold and silver medals in junior girls' Beth Brady and Julie Clarke were ire, Jessica Tellis and Tania Bonello were second. Christine Cronin and Claire Midgeham of Anderson CVI were second in senior girls' doubles and Tricia Chapin and Bethany Wilson of Henry won the bronze. Espiritu of Austin won the bronze medal in LOSSA junior boys' doubles. Austin won the junior girls' trophy and the overaîl LOSSA title in teain competition. Ander- son won the senior girls' trophy and was third aniong teains. juniors wnopener The Whitby junior girls IBt ringette team, sponsored by Midas Muffler, opened the 199»'4 season with a convincing 6-1 home ice victory over their Ajax rivais on Saturday. Leading the Whitby assault was Angela Dunn with two goals, while Lindsay Field, CaIly Corneal, Lou Ann Mackenzie and Lindsay Millard had the single markers. Contributing with assists were Tainara Wiesiolek and Tanya Campeau with two each while Caty Challoner and Amy Sagan each had a single assault. Sam Sheppard played a steady game in goal, allowing Ajax just the single marker. Other team members are Brea Blight, Ainsley Hunt, Shannon Perry and Ananda White. The Henry sco)res 3 in wm Whitby Fabrics novice ringette teamn won its first gaine of the season, 7-1 over Port Perry on Oct. 23. Courtnie Henry scored three goals, Racheal Jimino and Erin McIntosh each had two. Jennah Cheesman had three assista, Joanna Tellis two assists and Nancy England, Jimmo and Jessica Yan eaeh had one assist. Emily Mountjoy played a good gaine as goalie. Kristen Aiphonso, Caitlin Camp.bell, Mm Curry and Lindsey Lilly al played well. Novices lose to Ajax Whitby Provincial Signs novice Cl ringette team opened their exhibition season Oct. 24 with a 7-2 loss te, an Ajax team. Whitby started slow and were down five goals in the first period but came on strong froin the first period and matched Ajax for the rest of the gaine. Both Whitby goals were scored by Catherine Boys.
