The fire department headquar- tors will be built in the Town's former worlcs centre on Taunton Road et an estimated cost of $3 million. Expansion of the seniors' centre on Brock Street South is expected to cost about $1.5 mil- lion. In addition, the Town has plans for either a new or expan- de irary, improvements to the Centennial Building on Centre Street South and several roads projects, Edwards said. Councillor Don Mitchell, who bas been pushing for another ice surface for some time, agreed witb Longfleld's comments about the seniors. "Well, the pro arn are there. They (ice users) have the volun- teers, the people, but tbey have teohave a fcility,» be said. Whitby is already an «ice patd plus short» and will still bo in the sanie predicament when a new one copens, Mitchell claimed. «By the time w. build one we will be another short,» ho saiâ.
